Currency Exchange

It is not easy to find the exchange house in the city even if you are in the big city like Tokyo. If you go to some banks in the city, and if you are lucky, you can change the money.

This is come from the traditional Japanese government regulation. So you should change the money at the service counter of the (large or international) hotel or at the airport like Narita Airport.

The credit card is not enough for your staying in Japan so you should have some cash with you such as for the train, subway, taxi, bus, food, etc.

You will try to cash with your credit card with the change machine, and sometimes you could not cash even if your credit card is international card. In the hotel, typically you can change only US$.

To change the money, it's not easy in Japan.

But now, if you go to Seven Eleven, a famous chain store, you can cash with your credit with the change machine of Seven Bank.
